"sefeing, actually bought an E46" (sefeing90)

Headed to RDU this weekend for a wedding, and have 2 reserations booked - one “Muscle Car Adrenaline Collection”, which can be either a Mustang GT, Camaro SS, or Challenger R/T (I’d prefer the Mustang or Camaro), and a basic generic car.
Anyone have experience with these?

The Camaro has cylinder deactivation so it technically is a bit.

Displacement on Demand systems, bro. It’s a V4 when the EPA is looking.

A couple years back I got a free upgrade to a Camaro SS on a ski trip to the Poconos. They somehow needed to run miles up on it, so the dude at the counter asked if I would take it for t he Ford Focus price. It was a no brainer for me but he said they are tougher sells, low visibility, 2 doors, poor mileage and poor visibility. I loved it - got it wound out on he turnpike and I also turned off the traction control and did some burnouts at my Mom’s house. Daughter was impressed, the wife not so much.
If you’re driving more than a few miles point to point, why not use it as a vacation perq? The fun to dollar ratio is pretty high if the weather is good.

I recommend being an Emerald member, going to Enterprise or National at the airport and renting a full size sedan.
This allows you to chose any car in the Emerald Aisle, including Mustangs/Camaros, Trucks, Vans and SUVs.
Of course, the car should be present when you go to the location. So increase your chances by renting on a Su nday/Monday morning after the first few flights leave your city.
And v oila, you have a Mustang/Camaro rental for Full-Size Sedan money.
It gets even better if you use a Corporate discount (which I’ve only seen apply to regular cars, not Mustangs/Camaros ) . But I don’t recommend crashing the car, since they’ll call your work to use that insurance.

I’ve done Hertz over the years and ended up with Mustangs because I needed a two door car that could hold my wheelchair. They were always base models, which doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy them. It does make me thing the prices they charge for “adrenaline” are a little steep for what you get.

This is what I do but I haven’t been so lucky lately on cool cars being available.

Aw :( Well if it doesn't work, it means they don't have the car to rent out at all.
I’ve only done it once and it worked. But I was hoping that would be

I used to have luck all the time. Brand new v6 camaros, loaded EB mustangs, 4 Runners, and others. It seems like they have been cutting back and keeping the aisle mostly midsized. This weekend they did have a few convertible beetles. I prob should have grabbed that instead of a KIA. I wasn’t sure if I needed backseats so I played it safe.
I will say, I pulled a 5.0 mustang out of the aisle in Denver a few months ago. It had some mileage and the forecast called for snow. I guess no one wanted it haha. I feel like National at DEN does a good job of cycling the “old” higher mileage premium cars in the regular folk section.

I had decent luck last year. I only had to pay extra for one or two of them: (shameless plug)

Gotcha, interesting. There IS a different class for the V6 (or I guess ecoboost), so wonder if I’m destined to a challenger R/T

For me (at least) it is 99% of the time, no matter where I’m booking! Not really sure why, but I have discounts through AAA, so that could account for it
